Abbasid AE Fals of al-Mahdi. Kufa, AH 166 / 782–783 CE. This coin belongs to the early Abbasid copper coinage of the reign of Caliph al-Mahdi and, on typological grounds, corresponds most closely to the group of Kufa fals issues dated AH 166 published in specialized catalogues of early Islamic copper coinage.
