Late Abbasid Caliphate Al-Musta'sim Islamic Gold Dinar Coin AH 642 1244 AD 🌙 Approximately 8.34 grams. Approximately 2.73 cm (1 1/16 inches) in diameter. Minted in Madinat al-Salam (City of Peace) which toady is Baghdad which was the Abbasids capitol. One of the last gold coins in design the Abbasids mint (AH640-AH656) while having Baghdad as their capital which was taken over in 1258 by the Mongols under Hulagu Khan. In the centre of the front gold coin it says. there is only one God with no equals, followed by the caliphates name Al-Musta'sim B'Allah, and in the centre of the reverse side it says : Thanks to God Muhmmad is the messenger of God, Gods grace upon him and blessings. Interesting to note that the gold dinar coin weighs almost double the Umayyads gold dinar coin since its inception, probably inflation where everything cost double which isn't bad for 500 years compared to the inflation of modern times. Will continue........ Pray for Peace & God Bless 🌙
